Good, fast service.. about what I expected. Not my favorite Mexican place, but good while driving through The Dalles.

Surprisingly decent Mexican food, especially for The Dalles. It certainly won't win any awards, but my big burrito was filling and tasty. Didn't care much for their chips & salsa. Prices were comparable.

While walking to another Mexican restaurant after a day of driving, this one won out due to proximity to our hotel. The beer special was 5 coronas for 5 dollars- great deal .... Surprise they are the little ones, still a good deal. I let my dad crush those and order a prickly pear margarita - it could be the exhaustion but that sucker went down fast. Dad got the special - steak ranchero I ordered some veggie enchiladas Servers were super sweet- although she said my dad looked to young to be my dad which as a result I think means I look old- which sucks because I turned 30 this year... Anyway food was Dad " authentic, served promptly, value to portion was good" Me "damn that's hot and good"

Guacamole and dip better than others. Will return had excellent enchiladas. In fact we ordered some to go.

Nice restaurant and atmosphere, mostly all booths with tall sides so every seat is comfortable. The service and prompt and they keep the beverages, chips and salsa refilled, we never ran out. They also have a pico de gallo with cabbage dish that comes with the chips and salsa. Portions are huge and come out HOT. Guacamole is fresh and delish, with chunks of avocado. They are not skimpy with the cheese! Hubby gets the Steak Ranchero, I've had creamy chipotle enchiladas and tortilla soup, we would order any of that again. Clean restrooms. Will be back!

They burnt the beff and the chicken was dry. The waiter we got was by far the shittiest waiter I've encountered. If I were you I'd spend my money at McDonald's

Great Mexican food. Much more variety in the menu than most. Lots to choose from. I like spicy but chose a dish that was not rated as spicy and I was pleasantly surprised. I broke out in a sweat which is my measure of a good mexican dish.

Possibly the filthiest restaurant I have ever seen.

My husband and I shared a plate of their "Cielo, Mar y Tierra (Sky, Sea and Earth)". It was delicious and the perfect portion size. Their gluten free homemade corn tortilla was delicious ! Great customer service.

Better than I thought it would be... I wasn't really expect anything good (just okay, maybe) but it turned to be pretty good! I had the Tostado (Taco Salad)... it was pretty good. My babe had Enchilada with Taco. He said it was good! :) Even though, the guy walked in front of me while taking a photo for Yelp (I had to retake the photo). Still satisfied with this restaurant. I just playin', stop judgin'. hahahaha

The food is excellent and the service is wonderful. By far the best in Mexican cuisine I have encountered.

I'd recommend Ixtapa for the lunchtime crowd. The lunch specials are what you'd normally expect from Mexican restaurants; tacos, burritos, enchiladas and so on.The lunch prices are reasonable and include all you can eat chips and homemade salsa. A must have dish is the bacon wrapped shrimp Camrones Ixtapa. It's on the expensive side but is large enough to split with a friend making it more affordable. If I had a complaint, I'd have to say that their normal red enchilada sauce is a bit on the bland side. Also, the dinner prices are much higher but the portions are the same as the lunch portions.

Really good place! I had the seafood enchiladas. No kidding - each one was as large as a small burrito. I had to work to finish all three. Generous amount of crab meat and small shrimp inside. Very nice white sauce on top. Rice and beans were above average. Chips were good while the salsa was just average. $14.25. Worth the money. Give them a try.

Food was OK. Decor could be updated. Enjoyed the staff that served us. All in all a good experience. Will return

I don't even know where to begin about this place... My boyfriend and I drove out to the Dalles from Portland because I hadn't been down the Gorge yet, and we decided to stop here and eat. Big Mistake! The service was so-so... she wasn't rude, but not attentive either... The guacamole was brown, the salsa had no spice to it, chips were stale and the tortilla soup was cold and looked like it had been just thrown together because the vegetables in it were not cooked and it was as though the place was probably a fakery of some kind... because food was obviously not their first priority....

Unless you're desperate, I wouldn't. If you are, stash a jar of Cholula to add some flavor when the server isn't looking. The staff is friendly, the ambiance standard, and the food below mediocre.

Good food and service but could be more authentic. Drinks are excelent!

Tortilla soup got a thumbs up from my group. The rest was not so good. My taco was a pre-made hard shell filled with ground beef a la Taco Bell.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
